- A derivative of the species Callistemon viminalis, Boyettes Weeping is a moderately fast-growing tree that reaches a mature height of 10 to 15 feet. It was selected for its short, compact, and very dramatic weeping habit, with long, flexible, rope-like limbs falling vertically. Its small stature and easy care make it well-suited for small urban lots and containers.
- This bottlebrush produces smaller but brighter and more prolific red flowers than the species, with a longer-than-average bloom cycle. The unique, vivid scarlet, tufted flowers are very showy and nectar-rich, making them a powerful attractant for butterflies and hummingbirds.
- Care: This is a low-maintenance plant that requires little pruning once established. Plant in fertile, well-draining soil in a location that receives 6 to 8 hours of bright, direct sunlight daily. Adequate irrigation is essential to maintain soil moisture. Feed a high-quality, bloom-boosting fertilizer annually in the spring.
- Indoor: This tree is frequent choice for indoor Bonsai culture by experienced growers. However, the plant is not a good candidate for indoor growing generally.
